Our performance on the Watson Stage
We had a fantastic time playing MerleFest for the first time this past weekend. MerleFest is held on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, and was founded in 1988 in memory of the late Eddy Merle Watson, son of American music legend Doc Watson. MerleFest is a celebration of ‘traditional plus’ music, a unique mix of music based on the traditional, roots-oriented sounds of the Appalachian region, including bluegrass and old-time music, and expanded to include Americana, country, blues, rock and many other styles. The festival hosts numerous artists, performing on 13 stages during the course of the four-day event. We performed on 3 different stages and also took part in the Flexigrass Jam by invitation of Pete Wernick. We took full advantage of the opportunity to play this fantastic festival by taking part in several media interviews as well, including an appearance on Fox8. Check out our photo gallery to see some highlights from the festival.
